Assemblage Brochure
A survey of the commuter suburbs being assembled around the Yangtze River Delta, from Hangzhou’s Binjiang district to the container yards of Yangshan. Each development arrives with a brochure describing the life to be lived there; these photographs look at the life currently on site: show-flat tables set for no one, a sculpture still waiting for its plaza, a wheelbarrow on its lunch break. Somewhere between the rendering and the rubble, a new kind of ordinary is being drafted.
